This family name has been hard to find information on.  According to a marriage certificate, the name of my Great Grandmother was Frances Catherine Lovett.  The story goes that her mother died when she was young & that her father, supposedly an American hat maker, returned to America, leaving the children with the nuns in at a Bathurst Orphanage.  She was apparently taken in by a Frank Lovett who raised her & her siblings.

OK, part of the mystery has been solved, thanks to a second cousin (e-mail me for reference).  Frances Catherine Lovett  was actually born as Catherine Francis Feeney.  I had been given the name of Feeney but never knew how it fitted in.
